Product Description
The stunning third and final novel in Stieg Larsson’s internationally best-selling trilogy
Lisbeth Salander—the heart of Larsson’s two previous novels—lies in critical condition, a bullet wound to her head, in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She’s fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she’ll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority who have allowed the vulnerable, like herself, to suffer abuse and violence. And, on her own, she will plot revenge—against the man who tried to kill her, and the corrupt government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life.

Once upon a time, she was a victim. Now Salander is fighting back.

From the Hardcover edition.
Amazon.com Review
Amazon Best Books of the Month, May 2010 As the finale to Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest is not content to merely match the adrenaline-charged pace that made international bestsellers out of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire. Instead, it roars with an explosive storyline that blows the doors off the series and announces that the very best has been saved for last. A familiar evil lies in wait for Lisbeth Salander, but this time, she must do more than confront the miscreants of her past; she must destroy them. Much to her chagrin, survival requires her to place a great deal of faith in journalist Mikael Blomkvist and trust his judgment when the stakes are highest. To reveal more of the plot would be criminal, as Larsson's mastery of the unexpected is why millions have fallen hard for his work. But rest assured that the odds are again stacked, the challenges personal, and the action fraught with neck-snapping revelations in this snarling conclusion to a thrilling triad. This closing chapter to The Girl's pursuit of justice is guaranteed to leave readers both satisfied and saddened once the final page has been turned. --Dave Callanan

"Most Satisfying" 2010-10-01
By Erin Johnson (Mankato, MN)
What a satisfying way to end the trilogy! I really don't have a lot to say about this one, other than the fact that if you haven't read this series, you should really get to it! The only difficulty I really had was keeping the names of places and some of the characters straight (a lot of words begin with S for some reason...)

At the end of The Girl Who Played with Fire Lisbeth is in a seriously bad condition. Obviously she was going to come through it in some way, or this book wouldn't have been written. There is some tension still between Zalachenko and Lisbeth in the book, we learn more about the mysterious group that "took care" of Zalachenko, and a few people that need to be punished definitely get their just desserts.

As to whether or not Lisbeth is released from her guardianship, if she goes to jail for assault or murder, and if she and Mikael Blomkvist get together, you're just going to have to read it! And yes, this was another one of those books where I should have been sleeping, but didn't!

Notes on the Cover:

I love that they have the same type of lettering on the cover, and that each cover had a distinct color. This one is silver with a couple of wasps (hornets? Bees? Not my area of expertise...) on it, and little gray, white and red hexagons.

"Didn't Want It To End" 2010-09-29
By D. Luzar (Brookfield, WI)
In July 2010 I read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. As soon as I finished it, I downloaded The Girl Who Played With Fire and started reading it immediately. Five minutes after finishing the second book in the trilogy, I couldn't wait to read the last one. I started reading it again within five minutes of finishing the second one. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest started out right where the second one ended, so it was a continuous read. I LOVED all of them, but the last one was brilliant! I didn't want to finish it and started reading slower toward the end. The story engulfed me and I knew that there would be no more stories about Lizbeth Salander and Mikel Blomqvist! I will miss them!! Since we have been to Stockholm and Gamla Stan, it made it even more intriguing picturing the places along the way.

"Larsson is terrific!" 2010-09-28
By Mary Massirer (Crawford, TX USA)
All three of Larsson's books live up to their reputation. They kept me on the edge of my chair, so much so that when I finished Hornet's Nest, the 3rd book, I started reading the first one (Dragon Tattoo) again.

Larsson's plot moves briskly and his characters are credible. The translator deserves praise also since the dialogue uses idioms that are quite consistent with the characters.

I had trouble keeping the Swedish names straight, but to do so was worth the effort. I heartily recommend the books, but be sure you have plenty of time and not a lot of other pressing commitments.
