The Sony PRS-300 is a case of less is more. You do not have all the additional features and applications that the design of many of its competitors, but its simplicity and no frills is very refreshing.

It is a principal activity and does it well.

Design

Like the Sony PRS-600, this unit sports a metal box style sexy and strong and is likely to resist being pushed into bags and pockets.

Attention to detail is evident in the design that Sony tries to change the appearance of the Sony PRS-300 "bookish", substitute back with a book on the left and a profile of the cone on the right.

The pad also has a soft touch feel to it, so it is a pleasure to hold.
So far so good. The screen of
Sony PRS-300 is 5 inches on the diagonal is an inch smaller than the standard e-book readers.

Of course, the nature of the player "pocket" is that it is small and easy to carry, but for me the screen size is a defect of the Sony PRS-300.

With a 5-inch screen means that you can not get the text is in páginamodo what can be to turn pages more often than you would with a larger unit. But it is a commitment to do if you want a player smallest pocket.

Measuring 15.75 centimeters from top to bottom and a total weight of 220 grams, the Sony PRS-300 is really just a bit 'heavier than most mobile phones.

The length of the unit provides the navigation keys that have been properly stored in a simple circular navigation button and four buttons that will take you to the Start menu, the capture of text, add a bookmark and come back.

The functionality of these buttons are contextual, based on what is currently displayed on the screen. The zoom button is really helpful. Given the size of the screen, you can see what the font size is best for you, with a choice between small, medium or large.

    On the banks of the
Sony PRS-300 has contact points. At the bottom is the mini-USB and DC 5.2V. The top of the camera gives a power regulator and a small LED that lets you know when you are connected to the reception and the juice of power (it takes 2 hours per charge with the charger, 4 hours via USB).

Sony Digital Reader Pocket Edition (PRS300SC) with 5" Screen - SilverDisplay

The Sony PRS-300 has the same vital organ as almost all the e-book readers out there: easy to read e-ink.

Although the electronic ink display is to bring the reader to be less sensitive and slowly turns the pages, but does so to avoid eye strain, because it is based only upload the pages of power.

Some criticize its lack of lighting, but that is exactly the same as a real book, which is exactly the point.

Software

Supports file on the Sony PRS-300 is identical to that of Sony PRS-600, which allows you to read ePUB (the basis of the purchased content), PDF, TXT, RTF, DOC, Word, BBeB format.

PDF files can sometimes be problematic when subjected to application of the acquisition of a full-page view with the letters become orphans by the end of a sentence and paragraph of the classification becomes more random.

As you read, you can bookmark pages, even if there is no option to register, as is the Sony PRS-600, and there are no search capabilities. The eBook reader Sony PRS-300 is a pure and simple.

    The
Sony PRS-300 can store over 300 paperback books in its 512 MB and 380 MB of internal memory and a peak after the system software takes a bite.

But unlike the PRS-600, the memory of the Pocket unfortunately is not expandable with SD cards, a move that makes no sense at all.

Battery life

The battery had a small (very small) hit 6,800 pages mentioning Sony turns to Sony PR-600 in 7500, when used daily, the difference is unlikely to be noticed.

Conclusion

While the Sony PRS-300 does not really break anything new, it was found that did not matter. So you can listen to music and bring thousands of books, but never really wanted to do anyway.

The PRS-300 and feels like a quality device and does what he must do, which is comfortable to read books.
