"Why and how the Kindle changes everything "

This is less a favor and against the revision of a kind review helpful to Kindle eReaders than others and what it means for the eBook industry. (I think all the creation of the Kindle is changing.)

For many years, I am an avid reader of eBooks with eReading most devices on the market. So if an early adopter of techie gadgets I was waiting nervously in the Amazon Kindle, the first of its entries. So I immediately bought the curiosity and the hope of a better solution next-generation electronic book. If you ask if I "," Steve Gibson, you probably are - I'm the guy that makes Google the first three or four links when searching Google my name.

Unlike non-owners, people who have apparently Kindle universal love, but with a very good book. I think that the effect "TiVo" as the type of user, the Kindle could change your life ... but certainly not for everyone. Although it took me a couple of days so comfortable with it, now I'm addicted.

Therefore, for that matter, if this message is found by a genuine interest in pre-purchasers, I hope the following observations Kindle in "perspective" and place value to you. (And if so, I hope that you are the button below to indicate that, in this review can be found in more potential buyers ... thanks!)

I have read many new books on my Palm different way, I had the original Rocket eBook, and bought the first two generations of readers eInk Sony PRS-500 PRS-505. So my clear pattern of someone who loves technology itself and the idea of reading books on a device "."

The first generation of Kindle Amazon showed a few warts (see below). So depending on your needs, budget, to replace the availability of a "first generation" gizmo you may regret the purchase, and a year to save time, etc, etc, can also choose to wait for the next generation the Kindle will surely be even better.

But if you choose now or later go on board, Amazon will be modified to enter the eBook market is a major problem - the game forever. I think there is no doubt that for the first time, a significant number of people who have never been through a previous eBook system is a fascinating read and enjoy on-screen text content eInk Kindle.

The first reaction strange love-hate relationship with the Kindle compared with Apple's iPod, which also met with striking polarization. We all know how it turned out, we know that:) Although the iPod was far from being the first portable MP3 player, and critics have called a script, was to go in the first portable music player to the mainstream, and changed the world.

Kindle: Amazon's Original Wireless Reading Device (1st generation)     I think the same way, large and well interacting collection of Kindle features that far exceed those of other previous eBook attempt, will cause the Kindle to the first eBook to succeed. By connecting their massive book collection, as well as newspapers, magazines, blogs and Web - Wireless - for a long battery life of the plastic part of consumers, Amazon has launched electronic books in the mainstream.

Kindle perfect? Not yet. Y 'expensive? Yes It feels like a first generation product? Of course. I will be the next purchase of Kindle? Let me at the forefront!

     Investing in Kindle's future ...

eBook a DRM (Digital Rights Management, also known as copy) at the point of view, the ownership of the contents of my e-book has already spread all over the place from Mobipocket, Palm eReader, Sony Connect, and now Amazon Kindle. Sure, that annoys me a bit, but is the price you pay for an adopter "technology is not too early yet ready for prime-time ...

As before, there is no system of electronic books. Sony's efforts came later, but it was all over for Sony (and everyone else) with the introduction of the Kindle. The current owners of the other eBook formats, which will continue to purchase content for their devices, but in the U.S. to buy a new $ 300 Sony eReader that in an additional $ 100 could have the Kindle ... much more than any of the devices' AutoSync read-only?

In other words, no Amazon, and the fact that already feel, right click the door, offer much more than any other previous solution, I feel good now play with the ownership of the Amazon e-book content . Of course I was wrong before, but this is where I place my bet. I will not buy more content for eReader for Palm or Sony. And I think the contents are buying the first generation Kindle undoubtedly lead to any future generation devices Amazon's efforts to read.

     Look mom, no wires!

The good thing is TiVo time-shifting and commercial skip. The broad agreement with Kindle's wireless connectivity. As user "traditional eBook - ie download to your PC and" dock "the eReader rise - I do not 'get' at first. I'm like the Kindle, as I am with my Tivo hooked ability to dart through endless ads . The Kindle, the same kind of freedom and power, the text content of your voice communications.

Sure, I'll buy eBooks for the Kindle. But I have a newspaper and two magazines I subscribe to ... it really is a paradigm shift in the content of "only" refers morning. And the content of the magazine is clean, free of advertising blessed, photographs and distraction.
An ugly duckling in need of forgiveness?

Like many people who love the elegance, infinitely Apple iPhone (Apple and many other creations), of which Kindle eyes out first. I've been a vocal critic of the artifact as one of those "one star" reviewers. When the first images from the early loss of a couple of months before release, I thought, 'No way, what kind of joke!

This should be a balsa wood model principles. "Now that weird angular wedggie sit here beside me, as I write this. And I'm forgiven, because something strange happens after a few days: we started to realize that really works ... and works well. (And have you ever tried any iPhone keyboard on the screen?)

     Someone said "warts"?

The Kindle screen seems slightly lower than the second generation Sony Reader, but much more the subject of the first generation of Sony. Kindle * The characters are much higher than Sony's very legible, in six different sizes and with real italics, not just algorithmic slanting. I am a bit "annoyed because the spacing so great for the larger font should be changed, because a page of" event "is, but again, this is just the first shot.

And speaking of changing the page, I'm not a huge fan of the page navigation on this first Kindle. So much of the material is easy to change the page, which slows healing and unity is committed to act without inadvertently changing pages. But once down and reading, the fact that only a finger twitch is required is fun. Somehow I'm sure Amazon has a lot of feedback about everything ... and the next will be even more.

Want to know what to myself?

There is lots of confusion about Amazon charging for the conversion and delivery of content in our shots. Amazon costs * * only for the delivery of wireless conversion price is 100% free. If you do post content YourKindleName@kindle.com downloaded and converted your Kindle for 10 cents.

But if it becomes the content instead of by email to YourKindleName@free.kindle.com and a link to open the converted file via e-mail to your registered email address. So you can download and use PC's USB port to transfer the contents of the Kindle.

In addition to the free Mobipocket Creator v4.2 convert many formats - HTML, MS Word documents, Adobe PDF and text. PRC files - either compressed and encrypted if you want - if transferred directly to the Kindle can read. I have two large eBooks which I already had in PDF format native Kindle and work perfectly - no cost and becomes Amazon's participation at all. And I'm sure that soon will be free from all types of content Kindle converters popping up all over the place to be.

So I'm glad I bought the first generation device, and I agree with the first real wave of the creation of electronic books in the industry. None of my other eBook readers offer nearly what the Kindle does not. Thanks to the Amazon Kindle e-books and it finally happened.
