Literati Review: First Impressions

   The letters from Sharper Image is a basic electronic book reader. Necessarily a blow to the device, is the way it was designed to be.


    While his design looks a bit 'aimed at eReader Augen, is in no way like this device. The letter is not a versatile hybrid tablet eReader. He has no Web browser or a video player or even a music player. It 's just an ebook reader.

     First, the letter comes in a huge box that looks like a great book. Normally I do not want to talk about the case, but it's an image. It is about wide 13 "high and 3.5 cm. Here, next to the box for the Sony PRS-650 to give a little 'perspective.

    Out of the box of letters comes with a carrying case, AC charger, USB cable, free e-book some pre-installed with the option to download another 125 classic eBooks. It is connected directly to the store and ebook Kobo has WiFi for connecting to the eBook store Kobo. 

    With its narrow screen and a full QWERTY keyboard, at first glance, the e-book reader is a bit weird. 

    It has a color LCD display with 7-inch 800 x 480 aspect ratio that is much longer and narrower than the typical electronic reader 6 inches in size 800 x 600. 

    The screen is bright and the colors are bright and vivid. The device is geared more toward books with colors, such as children's books, cookbooks, textbooks, magazines and newspapers. It 's a great choice for those who are still at Kobo, but more to come apparently. 

    The buttons to turn the page on both sides of the screen are not really buttons. There is a sensor that detects when you click / drag, but do not seem to react all the time with this version of firmware. You can also use the wheel to the main navigation at the bottom right of the keyboard of the device to turn pages. 

    The scroll wheel takes some 'getting used to. The center button is greater than the outer ring of buttons, making it difficult to reach the top, bottom and side buttons without touching the heart. Once done, you must use the tip of the thumb, rather than the surface of it as you would the main command of the Kindle 3. 

    The cover comes with the writers is very similar to a cover. It 's very good book, soft cover, to feel you do not know what kind of material it is.  

    The only problem, however, that there is an inner sleeve that holds the bottom of the unit that goes a bit 'too close to the main navigation buttons, which makes them harder to hit accurately with the thumb important. 

    The letter is made of hard plastic and feels pretty solid. The edges are sharp and fits comfortably in one hand or both hands. There are two options for color camera, black and white.

Preliminary Specs and Features

    There aren't any official specification of the writers that appear only in the literary website, so this is what my trust meter has to say: 9 8.3 cm in size, with four 8.7 "wide 1 / 2 inch thick. A little 'heavy, I would estimate the weight from 14 to 18 ounces 

    For memory, the device comes with 256 MB of internal memory and has a slot for SD memory cards. 

    The device can read PDF and EPUB eBooks, DRM-free PDF and TXT documents with EPUB. 

    For EPUB and txt ebooks, there are 5 adjustable font sizes and two types of text, serif and sans serif. There are 7 levels of brightness adjustment and a dictionary to look up words (you must manually type the word you see above).  

    There is a table of contents to jump from chapter to chapter, as well as a selection, go to the next or previous chapter. It serves as a margin call, because when the margins are often too large for the small screen. 


    More features will be in November or December through a firmware update for the night reading and shelving, custom mode, and bookmarks to the desktop application to add Kobo published. 

    Kobo talking about a desktop application, working on the device and synchronized with all applications reading Kobo. It also works with Adobe Digital Editions eBook Library loans from local libraries, but ADE does not operate with a device (the manual says it does).

Literati Review: PDF files

     For PDF files, there are several ways, as with EPUB and TXT e-book. PDF is not adjustable text size, but there are six different levels of zoom from 100% to 200% in increments of 25, with a full page option.

     Once the zoom, pan, use the command of the entire page. There is also an option to view the PDF document in landscape mode. There is no way to support reflux or a hyperlink.

     As in the case of e-book, there is a table of contents to move the options from the previous chapter and the next, and a dictionary to be kind, that is searched.

     In general, the PDF support is nothing special, but it's better than I expected. The device has been cut, of course, with wide margins so that the text around the edges.  

    Do not see the whole page, the text is more readable with the 6-inch electronic reader like Kindle and Sony PRS 3-650.
  
Kobo Bookstore

    The writer is connected to the eBook store Kobo access to a vast collection of electronic books in PDF and EPUB times. Kobo Adobe eBooks with DRM, so they are compatible with a wide range of programs for e-book reader and eReader and Adobe Digital Editions.

     One thing about e-book store is that Kobo has a nice design, clean, with lots of options for sorting and searching. The book covers all the colors and look great writer.  

     There are a number of categories and new forms of e-books. There is also a section of free electronic books.

     Once you download an eBook, which is next to the library Kobo, so that you can download with other devices and Kobo Kobo-supported applications.

Literati Review: Conclusion

     Since the writers do not play video, view photos, or surf the Web, the fact that there is an eBook reader, not so much to do color.  

     The fact majority of e-book can be purchased by Kobo (or anywhere else for that matter) without color, everything is in black and white text.

     But according to the documentation that came with the authors, is actually a lot of content coming Kobo color such as newspapers and magazines and save more children's books, cookbooks, and so on that line has color illustrations.

     The fact that the writer has an LCD screen will not appeal to some, and others. It allows the reading of the night, but its disadvantages, the quality of the images in bright conditions and battery life is only a couple of hours instead of a couple of weeks.

     What is important is that the writer has designed a basic e-book reader for those with e-reading.  

    They have many functions and customization options, and could greatly benefit from some firmware updates to improve usability and stability, but what he says and 'easy to learn, easy.  

    In general, the functions of the machine, the price is too high, especially as similar devices such as eyes, is much cheaper and much larger.
