Customer Reviews for Kobo Ereader

Good for What is DOES and DOES NOT Do!
My wife has a Kindle2, and is enjoying it. But every time I pick it up, I am tempted to mess with its connectivity features...

So I purchased a Kobo Ereader when they were intro'd by Borders US earlier this year. It is a solid eBook reader. Extremely legible (I prefer the Sans Serif font that it offers) display. Painless purchasing and updating via the Kobo online system. Kobo has reps online who are responsive and helpful.

There are some "negative" reviews from those who purchased the original unit and firmware - many of those snags were addressed with a firmware update. And the units I see now in my local Borders stores ae the latest firmware version.

I am very pleased with my Kobo Ereader. I intentionally purchased it knowing it did NOT have WiFi and/or 3G connectivity. When I pick up my Kobo Ereader, I am going to read. It is a very enjoyable unit for READING eBooks.

A great basic ereader
My wife and I both love our Kobo Ereader!

It's a basic ereader with no frills...no wi-fi, no 3G, you download books to your computer and then to the Kobo Ereader. The payoff for this featurelessness is minimal size and weight, making it very light and about as small as you'll get with a 6" screen.

This is not a good device for reading PDFs, which are not really designed for ebook readers with 6" screens. You want ePub, which allows you to resize the text.

The Kobo Ereader comes with 100 classics pre-loaded. You can buy books from Borders, Kobobooks, Smashwords, and non-DRMed ePubs from B&N, Sony, and others. If you want a top-notch ebook library management program, download the free "calibre" program. It will recognize the Kobo automatically and lets you organize your library YOUR way.

Great eBook Reader
This is my first ebook reader and I'm really enjoying it!

I've downloaded lots of free books in epub format and they are a delight to read on the Kobo Ereader. The e-ink is fantastic, looks just like a normal printed page with no screen glare and is fine for reading outside in direct sunlight.

Also there is a very good Kobo community that help each other out with any problems and ideas.

I've done lots more reading since getting my Kobo Ereader.
