Kindle, Wi-Fi, Graphite, 6"
This is my fifth Kindle and I can (before) I prefer to read my new Kindle more than paper books (and, indeed, compared to a laptop or iPhone). With very few exceptions, the latest Kindle is a great victory. And at that price, just buy and ask questions later.

For owners of the Kindle Wi-Fi at the beginning of this update is really obvious. Amazon finally got the right, the addition of key features that have been waiting for: native support for PDF, integrated reading lamp (with an optional cover Kindle - highly recommended), smaller and lighter, improving the contrast amazing, the sources lighter, turn the page quickly, wifi (ideal for surfing the Internet), and a true HTML browser based on WebKit.

For people who have never used the Kindle, or perhaps before using the first generation Kindle and gave up, I recommend you try the Kindle.
First, it is very important to understand that the Kindle is not intended to be a tool for surfing the Internet (if it does a decent job and work great for blogs and news sites that are not based on color, Flash or Java. Neither is intended to be a console game or parts for your laptop. If you want a gaming machine, the replacement laptop, or if you want to run applications, the iPhone or Android tablet to come.

Second, understand that the Kindle is a device based on the reading: (1) to replace paper books, (2) read blogs and news sites (not video) through the Internet. It's not really a versatile machine, like the iPad.

In that spirit, here is the reason that the Kindle Wifi is really the best product on the market for playback. If you look at these features, you'll quickly see that none of the other approaches:

    1) Excellent Ink screen high contrast and high resolution sources. People who complain that the screen is dark are obviously comparing the Kindle to a laptop or iPad (LED backlight or fluorescence which causes fatigue, even if it looks bright for the long term).

Comparing the Kindle in place of a real book, quickly realizes that the contrast of the screen Kindle is good or better than paper books more real. This is because the Kindle uses ink like a real book, instead of pixels of light as a Lite-Brite (computer screen).

The ambient light is reflected on the surface of the Kindle, as happens when you read a book, turn off the lights and you can not see the page. For reading, it is an advantage over LCD / LED displays that are essentially a light in their eyes.

You can read all day on a Kindle and do not suffer from eyestrain. In addition, you can read in direct sunlight in the middle of a series (and commercial) and the text is clear that the ink ... days.

Of course, like a book, you need a light at night or in low light conditions. Coverage Kindle with reading light is perfect for this optional integrated battery and uses your Kindle so you do not need batteries or a separate charger).

    2) to take anywhere. The form factor is a pocket size (6 "screen is almost the exact size of a paperback book format). Of course, the Kindle is the thickness of a pencil even easier to hold and carry around in front of a paperback book.

Even if the skin is thinner than a paperback book, and much less weight. iPad is not too thin size for easy transport offered from the Kindle. fall into a bag or inside jacket pocket of a man and you're done. Unlike the iPhone, the Kindle can hold in your hand for hours and never feels heavy.

    3) Read the whole week (or more) for a fee. The battery life is estimated to be 10 days for normal use. I think I need to load once every two weeks, but my use is probably lighter than "normal" that tend to read at night for 1-2 hours.

Also, keep in mind that you can disable the wireless connection (not needed if not to download new books) and get several weeks of battery life on a single charge.

battery life compare
     4) facilitate the loading and portable. The Kindle can load a USB powered (portable) or a USB charger. It uses an industry standard micro-USB for charging.

I bought a cheap USB Retractable Micro-I put in my travel kit, and use the same cable to charge your phone and a Kindle (although it is rare that the Kindle has to be recharged on the road). The Kindle comes with a USB charger small, if you do not already have one (the size of the load used by the current generation of iPhone).

    5) Durable. Unlike tablets, the screen of the Kindle seems to be a type of plastic. Therefore, it is not indestructible, will survive the decline much more brutal than any LCD device / LEDs on the market (especially those who use such as iPad a glass lid).

Several generations of the Kindle, and falls several other incidents, I have yet to cause damage to the screen (or any other part of the Kindle).

    6) Read in full sun. When I'm on vacation, I bring books to read on the beach or outdoor cafes. It 'easy to read LCD / LED direct sunlight, so the pills can not replace reading books outdoors, no matter how brilliant you can make your screen. Kindle excels in these environments.

    7) Run the entire library with you. All the above points also apply to paper books. However, if it's been a long journey and tried to bring reading material, knew at once that the main advantage the Kindle has more books on paper.

You can download thousands of books in Kindle and have the same weight of a paperback book. Before you travel (or 3G in the world), in charge of books, travel guides, maps, notes (in PDF), historical reference guides and books, magazines and, of course, his collection of fiction. All this without taking up space in your backpack or luggage.

    8) Save money. For now, the Kindle books are generally cheaper than their pockets. Book publishers are struggling to change the situation, but for now, the Kindle will pay for itself in the economies of reading materials in the short term if you're an avid reader.

There is also a large library of free books (in particular the copyright has expired, but the more traditional).

    9) buy anywhere, read anywhere. Using the Kindle, you can buy books by the time you have a connection. However, I used to buy my laptop. In any case, the books are automagically downloaded to the Kindle without any action required on your part.

If you have more than a Kindle, you can share your notes and highlights. You can also download the PC application for the Kindle or Blackberry (free) and play on your laptop or Blackberry in case you have forgotten your Kindle. Kindle sync with the last page read, then reading a few pages on your Blackberry and then switch to move from where Kindle to read all the latest devices.

    10) internal PDF reader. Finally, the Kindle can be read in PDF format (must be uploaded via USB cable) and it worked perfectly. I started moving my papers in PDF format for the examination in the most comfortable. Mounting is not possible, but the notes are stored and can be extracted via a PC from the Web site of Amazon.com.

    11) Play music and audio books. This does not replace your iPod anytime soon, but the Kindle stereo speakers and sound are very good. Manage your music / books is limited, so you have something like MediaMonkey to load MP3.

Audible software (now owned by Amazon) works very well for the management of audio books. I have repeatedly audiobooks when I do not want to read some of my favorite MP3s. Sound and MP3 compatibility are essential for me, so that the Kindle is a step on this.

The bad? Nothing, really. At least not as a Kindle book reader in which reality is almost perfect. I want a color display, touch screen with a finger to drag the exchange of pages like the iPhone, video capability, replaceable battery, and bluetooth, but none of these features greatly increase the size / weight and significantly reduce battery life.

So until the technology improves to a jump, I prefer the longer battery life and lighter than the Kindle.

The only gripe concerns the Amazon does not have removable storage. MicroSDHC card to add any weight, or take a sack or any other battery. It allows me to load most of my music library (on a 32 GB card) to replace my iPod for most purposes.

Amazon Kindle could also integrate with your store MP3s. Not sure why Amazon override this function, except that Amazon might not want to be seen as a competitor to the iPod (to be clear, I do not think the Kindle will not be a murderess iPod - your goal is not music, but with the power music without boundaries of a microSDHC slot that the secondary function as well).
