Laptop D900F Eurocom Phantom i7 Core i7

The reason is as simple as they say they will make a laptop with Core i7. Some data are already known, although no computer has been running, not even a prototype. The particular model is the D900F Phantom i7, and bring a microprocessor Core i7, 8 GB of DDR3 RAM, a graphics GTX 280 from NVIDIA and up to three 2.5-inch hard drives. These data have not wanted to publish at all, but looking a bit I found that have appeared on his official website, although not currently available.

If you look at the specifications through Google's cache as we can choose between any of the three current Core i7: 920, 940 or 965 Extreme. They are desktop chips with very high consumption and, more importantly, they generate a lot of heat. The Phantom D900F will therefore bring a very good cooling system if you want to stay alive a few hours of operation.

If to this we add the graph, a GTX 280 on a huge scale, the computer and it might stop called portable. Decantaría I call it as desktop more easily transportable. Its weight is 5.4 pounds with 17 inch (resolution up to 1920 × 1200 pixels) screen and a thickness of between 5.1 and 6 cm. 6 centimeters laptop!

In addition to the already described offer the possibility of using three 2.5-inch hard drives up to 500GB each for a total (possible) of 1.5 TB of internal capacity. Webcam of 1.3 or 2 megapixel camera, TV tuner, 7.1 sound, card reader and reader / writer Blu-Ray. Almost has everything.

Now, I am compelled to mention two very important aspects.

First, is it really a laptop?. From my point of view, a computer that does not mount components is not a portable laptop. It can be manufactured, as it seems they will do with this D900F Phantom i7, but neither have the capacity to transport device 13-15 inches, or their weight or price. Furthermore, the autonomy will be seriously resentful, holding a consumption of about 250 or 300 watts, about the same as the Mountain NextGen i7.

Secondly, no major manufacturer has mounted any laptop with desktop components. For this, Intel launched in late 2009 for the Core i7 portable and has always done in all previous ranges. These i7 for notebooks will have a much lower consumption, possibly between 45 and 65 watts, and obviously the performance will also offer smaller than desktop versions, but will be equally high for what we're used to seeing in today's laptops.

In short, it is possible that today there is a laptop with Intel Core i7, although it will be a model for anything very specific and widespread. It seems that the D900F Eurocom Phantom i7 is poised to be the first.

Indeed, even materialize as the launch date is officially scheduled for 1 May, prices have not said anything. Are we a club?. I would say is from the 5000 euros, even allowing configurations of up to 8,000 euros.
