This is one of the best tools I've ever owned. The trees and shrubs that I planted 15 years ago have grown to a point that my hand lopper just can't do the job, but this tool has no problem. I am a female and I never would have considered a chain saw (I don't like pull starts and just couldn't handle the weight and power). This tool gives me plenty of power, it's not too heavy, and the noise is minimal.

I have to maintain 7 acres of forest laced with paths. In the spring and fall I collect and burn downed branches. I have been using a cordless circular saw but only could cut 2 inch branches. The aligator lopper is great I am able to cut up to 8 inch fallen limbs by rolling them. I also have the 18 volt 8 inch chain saw but the lopper is twice as powerful. I have gas chains saws but spend more energy maintaining and trying to start them. You won't hit rocks with the Lopper, dulling the chain. get a spare battery or purchase othe 18 volt tools that come with battery ,I have. I own trimmer edger, hedge trimmer, leaf blower, chain saw and two loppers and my wife can use all of them:-)

If you have a backyard that needs shrubs and trees cleared or trimmed, this is your tool. I have chainsaw, saws and all sorts of destructive devices for vegetation but this tool is a favorite. If trees and shrubs could run, they would be running away from this thing. I that easily cleared and the limbs from my Pine that was touching the power line with ease and it is nice to have cordless tool that has a decent battery life to do the job. My only complaint is the one battery that is supplied. ONE battery? I think if Black and Decker supplied two batteries there would be a complaint from the tree huggers.

We've had this tool around our lake place for two years and find it invaluable. I've cleared second growth 4" thick with this tool and it cuts fast and clean. Get an extra chain just in case. This is a tool that really delivers. I WAS totally skeptical when I bought it but am a believer now.
Buy it! You won't regret it!

Not quite a lopper, not quite a chain saw but a combination of the two. not as good as I thought for cutting down 7 foot edges but it works. I did use it on a small tree like thing with 4" branches. It took it apart quite handily. I feel it is a lot safer than a regular chainsaw. IT runs on my existing power source, no dragging around long extension cords makes it a breeze to use. I am now going to buy an 18 volt hedge trimmer. Battery life is acceptable just don't expect to use it all day without spare batteries. I wish it had an auto oiler.
