The only problem was that the drop of soap needed to clean is not a drop of plain soap. It is the cleaning solution (soap) sold next to it. If you want to know about the silver cleaning kits sold for devices like this. They consist of a piece of aluminum (you can use aluminum foil) and a tablespoon of baking soda.

Tested with eyeglasses and jewelry. It does an excellent job of cleaning the eyeglasses. It also goes a great job of cleaning jewelry except silver. If your silver is significantly tarnished, this cleaner does remove 60-70% of the tarnish but you'll either need to run it multiple times, add some professional cleaning solution or polish the silver by hand afterwards. This unit will pay for itself quickly as you won't need to constantly run to a jeweler to have them clean rings, etc. I haven't yet tested this cleaner with other items but plan to shortly.

I purchased this item (Sonic Wave CD-2800) primarily for its intended use - to keep my rings and other jewelry looking like new. What I discovered was that it was fabulous for cleaning eyeglasses. Though the description says it's also good for eyeglasses, I had my doubts. I have a problem with scratching my lenses no matter how careful I am and my husband gets his badly smeared. Put a drop of dish soap liquid in the water and let it do its work. I use it every morning on both our glasses and I'm so glad I decided to give this little wonder a try.
