"Love the new iPod nano" 2010-10-27
By R. Lewis (Arlington, VA)
Like many of you, I read the reviews on products before I purchase. The reviews on this product seemed mixed for the most part but the negative arguments (no camera, no video, no click wheel) were not very persuasive. I'm not sure who would want to view videos or take pictures with something that has a screen this small or even on the 5th generation model, that's what the iPhone and iTouch are for. This suits my needs just fine. A music player I can use at the gym or take with me to work when I want to listen to the radio. The clip stays in place and I love the fact that the screen can be rotated. Battery life is also decent and it charges pretty quickly. The only negative complaint I have is that the radio signal does not work when you are at lower levels (for e.g. my gym is 3 levels down). Other than that I love my new nano. Beats the previous model I had by miles.

"Awsom pod!" 2010-10-26

Great invention! This is a great upgrade to my old 1 GB shuffle, which is still kikin! The LCD display, which replaces many buttons, is a great addition to this pod. Keep rokin Apple!

"Silly Apple!" 2010-10-25
By Johnny Twain
In the September of 2010, Steve Jobs surprised the world by not introducing a modest update of the last generation as most people expected, but an alien looking device from the Nano world, sporting a touch screen and striped-away features. Was this a smart decision on Apple's part? Not at all.

It seems that Apple's design team rethought the entire Apple Nano line, wanting to slap it in shape strictly with active people in mind. Apple put the nano through such a drastic change only to make it smaller, but the question arises. Why? Who would have thought that last year's small, slim iPod nano to be too big? This was an extremely pointless device, at least as a sequel to the nano class. The iPod's signature clickwheel was ripped off and a touch screen was added. It was so small, in fact, they've added a clip. I found the touchscreen no easier to use than the original clickwheel, and the clip reminiscents of the cheap and disposable shuffle. With this redesigning, the small size was compromised for "unneeded" and "useless" features such as the well publicized camera on the back of the old nano, along with ANY games, the clock/stopwatch, and most importantly, video playback. These small features made the old iPod nano worth the money it cost, and unlike most people, I watched full length tv shows and movies on the small screen of the previous generation's nano. The exclusion of these features could have, of course, been justified with a lower price point. However, the price didn't even budge.

Now, to get the missing features and the camera, I would have to jump up to the iPod touch, which might be too expensive. Where is the feature packed, durable player, which, with the older, less out worldly designs, made it the most popular iPod for years?

As I have mentioned earlier, this new device was an attempt to attract more active people; but sad the truth is, all they did was make the targeted audience smaller with less features and being pointlessly small. As of now, the best iPod nano is the 5th generation. Hurry- because of this new generation, the old ones are going out fast!

Undoubtedly, a fantastic product and well designed for ease of use. The clip at the back of the body has made the iPod holder/strap to go away.

An improvement to accesories - Headphone should have a volume control attached to it.
