I have a 2nd generation shuffle that I use for bedtime music. I love the 4th generation as it has the same buttons plus some. I didn't like the looks of the 3rd generation so waited. I am so glad I did! I love my new shuffle! The voice over is awesome! I was really glad about the play list option. That is one thing that I felt was limiting about the 2nd generation. I now have all my music with me all the time. No need for carrying 2 shuffles with me. Yes, I did have 2 of the 2nd generation, but gave 1 to my son when I got my new one. Overall, I am very pleased and won't get a new one until I have to. If they were to up the size of the flash drive, I might consider it, but my current one has more than enough space for all of the music I listen to on a regular basis. Thank you Apple!

I ordered this shuffle from Amazon the day it was announced and am glad I did.



My first impression (as someone who has never owned a shuffle in the past) was that this thing is SMALL! A lot smaller than I imagined and that is a good thing.


I own an iphone and an older ipod nano. Each of the devices has their own function. My iphone's ipod is used when commuting on a train or bus. The iPod nano stays in my car and is used as my car's song database. Both those two items were great but I felt I needed something smaller when biking, jogging or working out. Carrying around the iphone in my hand or on a holder just worried me that if I fell or it slipped out, I would break the thing and the nano stays in my car and has the same dilemma. Also putting either in my pocket makes me HAVE to wear short with pockets and when jogging or biking causes my shorts to bounce around too much!


That is where the shuffle comes. It is so tiny, it clips onto my wait or shirt collar with ease. It is so light that I don't even notice it is there. It was made for active people doing exercise I feel.


PROS:


Very Small and Lightweight

If for some reason it does get unclipped it is so light it wont separate from the headphone cable

Voice-over s a GOD send when running or biking (no need to look at the screen and take your eyes off the road)

2gb is MORE than enough room for a long workout program

Clips pretty much anywhere

Ergonomic button placement

Did I mention VOICE OVER??!! (works great)



Cons:


Headphones suck (but who uses the apple ipod headphone anyway??!!)

Some usb cable issues (not properly syncing or charging on occasion)


To sum it all up, this new generation of shuffles is great. If you are an active person, it is a MUST have.

Just LOVE my little iPod! It was a little disconcerting when it arrived in the mail, as I had no idea how tiny it is. I have a chronic illness and need to go on numerous doctor visits, and I also have SEVERE white coat syndrome! I practically get ill I get so nervous. I bought this little player to use while waiting to see the doctors. I used it just yesterday at My Johns Hopkins appt., and it REALLY helped soothe my nerves as I was waiting to see the doctor. Music and animals have always had a calming effect on me, and since I can't take my dogs to the appointments, I can take my little iPod! It just fits in a pocket so nicely or clips on a belt. This was the best purchase I've made in a long time! Highly recommended!

This is a great product. However, this is the second time I've had to replace it over a 2-year period. I still enjoy the sound quality and convenient size.
