"Great for smoothies, soups, ice cream, etc" 2010-10-04

I've been reluctant to buy another kitchen gadget, but this is definitely worth it's shelf space! Great for blending all sorts of stuff and my kids love it. Easy to clean...

Only drawback is that it is not good for whipping cream.

"As good as it gets!!" 2010-10-02
By D. F. Terranova (Northeast)
The Cuisinart SmartStick is truly as good as it gets. I've used a number of hand blenders before and none of them compare. I've had those that cost considerably more and some that cost less and the SmartStick puts them all to shame. I've read some complaints about the unit not being entirely stainless steel and that is true. The description is misleading in that regard and should be changed. However, that being said, the main handle is made in a very sturdy manner and the fact that it isn't all stainless is not worth mentioning further. This product is outstanding all the way around. It's very well made, it's powerful, and it does exactly what it was designed to do and more. I like the fact that the blade and protective cover aren't overly large, so the blender will work in almost any glass/plastic mixing cup. As to the complaints about spills, all it takes is getting used to the product, which is a snap. If anyone is having trouble with splashing etc., they're simply not using the SmartStick properly. I've also read the complaints about the SmartStick not having the ability to handle larger size ice cubes. I normally use crushed ice, which solves that problem easily, but even with full sized cubes, it's all in how you use the blender. You'll find that when you start to use the SmartStick, it will be drawn toward the bottom of the "glass", which to me is a good think. I never have a problem with any residue that the SmartStick wasn't able to get to. It's also very easy to lift the blender from the bottom of the "glass" you're using and move it in a up and down motion, allowing for a thorough mix. If you are using regular size ice cubes, the up and down motion will allow you to handle them easily. Should you get any spilling, it will be because you lifted the blade area too high. As to clean up, this thing is a dream. When I finish blending, I unplug the cord while the mixing section is still in the "glass". I then push the convenient button to release the main handle from the mixing stem, remove the stem and clean/dry it in less then a minute. I'm very picky about what I buy and anyone that complains about this product, either is using it improperly, or they're using it for something the product was not designed for. BUY THE PRODUCT. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!

"Handy kitchen gadget" 2010-09-30

I found this Cuisinart CSB-76 SmartStick Immersion blender to be an excellent addition to my cooking tools. I use it mainly to blend a Lebanese garlic sauce, and it whips the sauce into a good consistency. It's easy to use, and also very easy to clean. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an immersion blender. Oh, the price was right, also!

"Good blender; bad beaker" 2010-09-29
By Friend in NYC (Greenwich Village, NYC)
I love this immersion blender. Its the second one I've owned and this one is far better. However, recently I've been heating up some liquids in the microwave in the plastic, 2 c. beaker and it has been getting more and more cracked with each time. Finally, the cracks worsened to the point that the beaker LEAKED ! So I threw the beaker away tonight and am now searching for a replacement...ideally in Pyrex. Any suggestions ?

The blender is great. I frequently make fruit smoothies with frozen fruit, greek yogurt, splenda and some skim milk. This makes a smoothie that is thicker than most milkshakes...and the blender works hard to get through the frozen strawberries. Its a work horse.

"Better than great!!!" 2010-09-28

I purchased this hand blender specifically for when I make split pea soup. I was tired of having to transfer the soup to my large blender, then back into the pot along with all the extra dishes that created! This hand blender is great! It's way beyond my expectations and I can't believe I didn't purchase one earlier. I just made a pot of soup this morning and I'm so thrilled with my purchase. It's well worth the money!
