"So much fun!" 2010-10-21
By Wendy Dethloff (Belton, MO)
This was fun right out of the box, after charging of course! It really flies for about 8 minutes per charge and takes just a few tries to learn the controls. It is so much fun. Per a previous review, I did tape a paper clip to the front underneath of the helicopter and that did help it to move forward easier.

"Best RC Heli for the Money" 2010-10-20
By K. Mueller
I've owned quite a few RC toys and have spent quite a bit of money on low - mid priced RC helicopters. It's rare to find something that is so much fun for so little money as the Syma S107. I have only had it for a few days, and I'm sure I'll break something on it soon, but it's a great purchase regardless.

It's true that you are missing a few axis of control that you would have on much higher prices helis, but the gyro on this model makes it very easy and fun to control for beginners. I hesitated to purchase it because I couldn't imagine that it would be worth the money - but it definitely is.

As other reviewers have pointed out, this heli beats the pants off of Air Hogs models that cost twice as much.

"Uh (wait for it) mazing!" 2010-10-20
By Hemp (Portland, OR USA)
This is my first Amazon product review. Normally the existing reviews cover my thoughts sufficiently or I just don't feel very strongly good, bad or otherwise about products. I shop carefully and generally I get what I'm expecting. No more, no less.

That was so far from the truth with regard to the Syma S107 heli that I simply had to share my thoughts. I've been an RC fan since I was a boy, starting with electric trucks then nitro trucks and eventually worked into flying 1:10 scale planes at the local AMA field with my dad and brother. Back in those days, there were a few brave (and I presume affluent) souls who flew nitro powered helis, but I knew how hard they were to fly and assumed I'd probably never have the chance. So when I noticed these "toy" helis entering the market and gaining traction, I kept a skeptical eye on it. However, after reading enough reviews about the S107, and seeing THE PRICE! I had to take a chance. So I ordered one, figuring I might get a few minutes of entertainment from it before either getting bored, giving up, or picking up its pieces.

I have never been so glad to be wrong. This micro heli is amazing. Truly. Decades of physics, chemistry, and precision manufacturing research and experience have culminated in what would have been considered a miracle a hundred years ago. Probably considered unthinkable by many only 20 years ago. For the price of 10 lattes you have a miniature helicopter capable of sustained, self balancing hover with decent climb, pitch and bi-directional pivot. And most importantly, it really is so easy to fly that anyone can do it. I know they say 14 y/o on the box, and that seems pretty reasonable, but my daughter is three and I've let her run the cyclic control while I managed the throttle and she was able to maneuver around the room with little guidance. She also got bored after 20 seconds and moved on to something else. But I kept flying. I can't put this thing down.

Pros:

* Very easy to fly/learn.

* Self balancing / hover stability is excellent.

* Very maneuverable for what it is.

* Controls are self explanatory.

* Charging is easy and convenient.

Cons:

* Short battery life (though, if it weren't for this, I'd never get anything done).

* Will make you want more.

The biggest drawback I've uncovered from owning this little gem is that now after flying it so much and pushing the limits of what it can do, I find myself desperately wanting to move up to more advanced micro helis. In other words, it's so fun to fly I'm becoming infatuated.

My wife loves flying it, too and she's never shown any interest in R/C in the past.

"Amazing little helicopter for a steal of a price!" 2010-10-18
By MikeN
This micro helicopter is awesome and by far the best in its class. It has a gyroscope which makes it much more controllable than other micro helicopters in the price range. The turns are very sharp, when you press the stick to the left, it goes left and immediately stops rotating when you release the control. You can perform cool 180's if you release the throttle a bit while in a turn. The first micro helicopter I bought was one of syma's apache helicopters for $20. It was cool, but not half as nice, stable or controllable as the S107. Plus you can charge the helicopter with an included USB cable and save the batteries in your remote controller.

I brought this helicopter to my friends house to show it off, and immediately 3 of my friends ordered a couple. There is a slight learning curve, but much less than that of the $20 range helicopters.

After trying these micro helicopters, I wanted to move on to the next step and I ordered a $100 fixed pitch helicopter as well as a $200 collective pitch helicopter.
