"Wonderful option, but disappointed in the price of books" 2010-10-02
By Kathleen J. Karl (Portage, MI USA)
I just got my Kindle and it is a wonderful device. I am dissapointed that I could be getting some books cheaper in paperback than on Kindle. When I looked at the options I thought best sellers were ~ 9.99 and now I find that it costs more than that. Either I didn't review enough books or something else is weird. It is wonderful way to receive books...Also very quick . I also got the cover with light and that gives me confidence that my Kindle is protected and I can read it in the dark.

"Already Loving It." 2010-10-02
By Brent Green (Bethany OK, USA)
I just recieved my new Kindle 3 this morning, and I am already in love. It is so small and light, but has so many great features. I have already looked up the local newspaper, tried out a few books, and downloaded numerous free classics. As a pastor, I am always looking for new things to read, and now it could not be easier. The kindle store is amazing, and the discounted prices of the books will make it much easier for me to afford all the books i want to read. While the Kindle is not exactly cheap, it is the best priced and most fully featured E-reader around. I love that I can share books with other devices such as my Moto Droid. I will always have something with me to read now. I am looking froward to spending a lot of time with my Kindle, and would suggest that others do the same. You will not reget it.

"Very happy...with minor quibbles" 2010-10-02
By Andrew Dykstra (Toronto, Canada)
I am extremely happy with my Kindle. I love to collect books and I love to read. So my Kindle is perfect.

I love being able to select a font. Some days I need a larger font. I can make it as pleasing as possible.

Kindle have been very candid about some features being "experimental". As an mp3 player, it is limited. Reading "aloud" is fairly mechanical--not a feature I will use much. It's not great displaying a pdf.

I hope Kindle will continue to improve their experimental web browser. I love that feature and would love to see it retained.

I love being able to download purchases through Whispernet. I downloaded a King James Bible for 99 cents, and an NIV version for $5.35; very inexpensive! There are so many excellent books available in the public domain--many of which are not easily found in paper editions. There are other sites such as the Gutenberg Project that have thousands of other books to download to my computer and then transfer to my Kindle. There are many more public domain books that could be made available. When every paper edition has been cleared out, there should always be a Kindle version. Nothing should ever go out of print....

All in all, I am extremely happy with my Kindle. I will buy another in the future.

"Great product!" 2010-10-02

I was so skeptical about purchasing a Kindle. I like regular books and highlighting passages and everything that goes along with the actual paper product. And I can't read for very long on the computer without getting a pulsing headache. But with the new price, and the fact that I want to read books when they first come out but lugging around a hardback is a pain, I decided to get the Kindle with Wi-Fi. I HIGHLY recommend it! I can read for hours without it hurting my eyes or head at all. I also love the immediacy of being able to download any book that piques my interest. I like that it has page-turn buttons on both sides, so I can hold it different ways and it is still user-friendly.

The only drawback for me, is that if I am anywhere indoors with less than stellar lighting, it's not the easiest thing to read and that's the only time I yearn for a regular paper book. If you get the lighted cover, that should probably make up for it, but alas, I went with the more basic cover.

Still, I carry the Kindle around with me at all times now and I love the portability of a whole library of books!
