MOTOROLA XOOM Android Tablet (Wi-Fi) |
Currently I have the original Android and looking to move to the new Android phones this summer. It 'hard not to compare your competitor called Xoom and IPAD2. Therefore, this hot fix requires Xoom features (wireless version) and compared with IPAD2.
Operating System
IPAD is more like a smartphone that Xoom is more like a laptop computer (Best Buy is actually in the notebook section, instead of the pills as Android Samsung Galaxy). Honeycomb is more like a tablet. There is only one line of applications and the waste of space as IOS. E 'is also room for customization (flash, wallpaper on the issue alive, etc.).
There are also little details that are appreciated knowledge of technology (grid lines, advanced settings, Google Labs, etc) honeycomb remains free of mistakes, but not to the extent that it becomes annoying. It 'also easy to transfer files between your computer and Xoom. Just plug in USB and it works like a hard drive, then drag the desired files. There are also applications such as file and ES Astro Explorer File Manager to manage the files / folders (like Windows Explorer).
I think that requires IOS software, unless you just do music / movies through iTunes. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I hate all linked / synced through iTunes. The Xoom, more freedom and do not stick with a program like iTunes.

Design/Apperance/Screen
Xoom is heavier, but this is due to the robust quality that I love. It 'more often and has a large screen (better suited for movies IPAD2). Despite Xoom has a higher screen resolution, IPAD 2 still has a brighter screen and look busy

If you are using the Chrome browser before it's almost like Xoom. I prefer the tabbed browsing is no need to press the button to open multiple Safari windows in the IOS device. You can search directly type in the address bar like Google Chrome. You can synchronize the bookmarks in your Google account. And yes, I know there are applications of other browsers on the market. However, a browser application for the population, Xoom has a better experience.

Apps
IPAD2 is far ahead in terms of applications and that original IPAD had at least 1 year of Head Start vs Xoom. Not to mention the comb is unfinished and the SDK was recently released.
However, applications that are commercially available compressed Android (about 50 requests for the pill), most of them great job and a great look. Note that you can still use Android applications. Company telephone applications, but still maintain high resolution so that it looks bad on the screen whatsoever. Give it time.

If you have an iPhone and iPad, you know how the notification can be very painful. Xoom has a better notification system that appears briefly in the lower right you get a new e-mail, application updates, etc. can be clicked to display all the notifications or delete them. Hardware Performance
A5 vs Tegra 2 is still being debated. Xoom seems to be as powerful as two IPAD except GPU (the difference can be seen with the games and the brightness of the screen). IPAD2 has 512 MB of RAM vs. 1 GB of RAM on Xoom.

Camera/Video/Audio
Xoom, the best pictures and videos through its upper front VGA camera specifications front lower back, the 2 MP IPAD. Application of the picture becomes a little 'getting used to Xoom. President of Xoom is decent and could have been stronger. I would like the volume control is more visible on the side. And 'as if the button can jam in the device.
I also use DVD Catalyst to convert and transfer movies to Xoom. You can convert most file types, and that is not protected by DRM (like the "Digital Copy "). The software is fairly clean, easy to use and beautiful images. You have the ability to customize the files, add subtitles, and get rid of black bars.

Flash
Yes, Flash is still in beta, but works very well so far with a bit 'late, but barely noticeable. Very smooth most of the time. I tested it on sites that use Flash as Engadget (video), Honda (Auto animation), Vice Versa restaurant in New York (heavy flash site), Myspace and Bandcamp (music player with artist's page). IOS has no flash at all what we all know that as far as navigation.

Battery Life
Xoom receives about 8-9 hours of heavy multitasking. Will test the timeout, but I hope to be at least IPAD2. IPAD2 gets at least 10 hours of intensive use.

GPS
I just want to remember that the GPS navigation and full of Google Maps in Wi-Fi Xoom. While IPAD2 is available only if you have wifi + 3G version. And if you use Google Maps for Android applications that you first know more of the map of the IOS (step by step voice instructions step by step, diapers, etc.).
Because this is a wireless version, the cache settings of IE in Google Maps, where you can prefetch for overview maps of the city or region, while the Wi-Fi (on? MB. Need to check coverage).
You can then navigate to the desired destination, as well as the navigation voice. You can not change the destination half way, because obviously no 3G connection. The other alternative is to connect the device 3G/4G smartphone.

This is my favorite part of Android. Which opened the themes of personalization, widgets, custom splash screen at baseline. IOS is not an escape from prison unless the device.
