Kobo eReader Touch
I suppose it's not surprising that Amazon isn't trying very difficult to sell many of The Kobo eReader Touch (Black) :). I purchased mine from Borders a workweek ago, for the regular terms -- and at that damage, it should be noted, the Kobo eReader Touch (Black) is the cheapest new ereader on the market. (Unless you get one of those ad-supported Kindles, but seeing the adverts would make me want to claw my eyes out.).

The Kobo eReader Touch is my first ereader, though
I 've fooled around with other people's Kindles, Nooks, and Sony readers.

I chose the Kobo eReader Touch because of the price and because it's frankly better at handling PDF files than the Kindle or Nook -- it's about on par with the Sonys there.

I 'm delighted with the Kobo eReader Touch small size ; I actually can slip it in my pocket. It's slightly smaller than the new Nook touch, and * considerably * smaller than the latest Kindle, though the screen size is exactly the same. Screen qualities is excellent (but The Kobo eReader Touch is on all the current-generation machines).

I would think that the Kobo eReader Touch would be a great choice for anyone who finds its minimalist touchscreen interface appealing -- in practice, I find it to be pleasantly like using my phone or a tablet computer.

Of course, some people will find the very same aspect of it annoying. Personally, I've found the touchscreen to be quite responsive, indoors or out.

Other things to like : solid build ; rubbery back in non-slip quilt pattern ; surprisingly functional (though far from perfect) browser built in. (You can check Gmail with it if you 're desperate.) So, on the whole, I 'm quite happy with the purchase.

The Kobo eReader Touch Pros:

+ Slim and sleek. The The Kobo eReader Touch is much smaller than the Kindle 3 I had before this, and a good bit sleeker compared to the Nook Touch ereader.

+ Excellent screen (same one used in the Kindle 3 and Nook Touch ereader).

+ Slightly cheaper than the Kindle or Nook.

+ Kobo eReader Touch constantly releases firmware updates to improve the system.

The Kobo eReader Touch Cons:

- No hardware page turn buttons.

- Interface isn't as polished as the ones on Sony Readers.

- Battery life appears slightly worse than the Kindle (although it's a trade-off for being much smaller)

In general, Kobo eReader Touch is not a perfect ebook reader, but it's good and I was very pleased so far ..
