Aluratek LIBRE eBook Reader PRO: Everything that it is supposed to be!
Before purchasing the Aluratek LIBRE eBook Reader PRO, I read reviews on huge different ebook readers. I quickly found that each, as with most products, have supporters and detractors. My opinion of the Aluratek LIBRE eBook Reader PRO is that it does what I want it to, at a better price, than anything else on the market.
I don't need or want bluetooth or Wifi capability. I wanted to be able to download ebooks from the internet and read them.
The fact that Aluratek LIBRE eBook Reader PRO comes with 100 preloaded books from Project Gutenburg means take it out of the box and read! The background music capability is a plus. It doesn't have fantastic sound quality but I didn't buy Aluratek LIBRE PRO to play music.
If I am listening to music in the background while I am reading it is at a low level anyway. I don't buy a lot of e-books. I download them from the library.
Because the Libre does not incorporate a date capability, the loaned books are not subject to a lending period until you re-sync with Adobe Digital Editions on your computer! For this reason, I download twenty books at a time, and don't resync with Digital Editions until I have read them.
In conclusion, the Aluratek LIBRE eBook Reader PRO is an excellent e-reader for the money! It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but I don't need or want them!
I will, and have, recommended this to friends!
simply ereader
Pros:
If you want a device that quite literally does what an ereader advertises, the Aluratek LIBRE eBook Reader PRO is for you. The storage on the Aluratek LIBRE Reader PRO is 90MB, give or take 1MB. This ereader uses an LCD screen, along with two methods of turning the page. Page turns are quick, by the way.
The first method is a slider on the left hand side of the Aluratek LIBRE eBook Reader PRO. Personally, I find the slider to be an intuitive addition. Alternatively, the Aluratek LIBRE Reader PRO has a button that does the same thing.
There is minor glare, but nothing that can't be expected from an LCD screen. (Making sacrifices for quick page turns). Quite frankly, connecting to the PC and transferring books is as easy and opening up a flash drive and dragging/dropping files.
This intuitive measure really plays well for me. No fancy wifi/3g. I bought the Aluratek LIBRE eBook Reader PRO when it was $80. Worth every cent. The simplicity of the Aluratek LIBRE Reader PRO is what really makes it successful.ps the number of formats this thing supports is incredible. Handles PDF like a pro.
Cons:
I ordered the Aluratek LIBRE eBook Reader PRO with an SD card by Kingston, and it should be noted that when the card is in the device and you're transferring data, it seems rather slow. Admittedly, the data transfer I was doing was rather large comparatively.
The only real flaw with the Aluratek LIBRE eBook Reader PRO is the battery life. I've seen reports of the blinking green light causing insanity. Haven't had it long enough to say... The battery offers 24 hours of continuous reading, but I've read very different reviews. Some say they get 24 hours, others say they get 10.
I recommend performing a firmware update before you start complaining. (Necessary evils). The minor glare might hurt your eyes after awhile if you're reading directly under a light.
Definitely better than computers, cellphones, or any tablet PC, though.Updating the firmware was less than intuitive. Just go to Aluratek's website and look for the product with the same model#. The firmware updates should be under support. The PDF file was instructive, but the process took
