Customer Review : Put the Wii sensor everywhere you want: Recently purchased this to set up the sensor bar above my projection screen. It took about an hour for me to get it to work as the plugs are not the right size (they appear to be slightly smaller than they should be). Here are the steps I took to get this to work: 1) Plug the sensor bar directly to the Wii. Verify doing by waving your Wiimote in front of it in the sweet spot until the cursor appears. 2) Place the Wiimote on a flat outside pointing at the sensor bar in such a way that you can see the cursor on screen. 3) Unplug your sensor bar. 4) Plug in the extension cable into your Wii (note that it is not fitting quite right... It is a bit loose). 5) Plug your sensor bar into the other end of the extension cable. It should make a nice snap. Nothing to worry about, right? Wrong. Give it a wee press so that the connectors are seated well. 6) If you are very lucky, you should see the cursor appear on your screen. You probably won't. Remove the extension cable plug from the Wii and then reinsert it, slowly. Try inserting it halfway, slightly to the side, etc. All the while look at your screen. You'll know you are getting somewhere if you see the cursor flash on-screen and then off for a brief second... Just enough to taunt you. 7) After a few minutes more of this, you'll find a good spot for the back of the Wii as the cursor will now remain on-screen persistently. Back slowly away from the Wii and hope it doesn't pop loose. 8) Try picking up the place where your traditional sensor bar plug meets the extension cable. When you pick it up, does the cursor stay on? If so, you are golden. Get some electrical tape and wrap that sucker one good time. Now when the other plug shifts slightly in the Wii and things don't work you have isolated the problem so you can fix it later. 9) ... 10) Be happy you got the thing to work, even though it was far harder than it needed to be. Buyer beware, this cable is very picky with newer model Wiis (perhaps older ones did not have this problem). I did get it to work, however. I'll leave the rest in your capable hands. | |
