Kindle Fire : Outstanding Value at $199 and Full of Functionality / Bells / Whistles

     I had the opportunity to play with Kindle fire for a few hours, and in general I think it's a great toy / tools if one takes into account the cost of the property and what it is. Compare to $500 minimum for the base line (only WiFi) iPad2, at $199 the price is a good buy.

    Using Wi-Fi at two points, the speed was fast enough connection to the server from Amazon and a couple of websites. I had a fast connectivity and show on Fox News, CNN, My Yahoo personalized page and the site of the International Association of Penturners (hey, I pass!). 

    I was a slow connection to both places with Wi-Fi Google, ESPN, MSNBC, Houston Chronicle and The Weather Channel - I hope that the single application of ESPN and the Weather Channel are much faster, but I loaded into the fire. I note, with the exception of the Google site, other sites are often slow and slow on my other devices, such as Droid on my phone and my work (yes, the man owns and operates an iPad Kindle for work) iPad2 . The web browser is called silk, and is nice and friendly.

Let's talking about what I see the first benefits:

    The screen size of the Kindle fire befit of my work. - I used an iPhone and the screen is bigger - but I've seen 15 minutes of an episode of season 3 of 24 on the Kindle fire and did not want the show or have not impression that I was missing something. The sound quality is good, but above all to listen with headphones as not to wake my children.

    Concerning size of the over all unit- not too heavy or too large for the good hands. I have a Marware covers and "feel" right: this is not a strong statement for a review, I know, but what can I say? Keep the iPad feels a little uncomfortable at times, but the Kindle fire is a bit bigger than my Kindle keyboard, so I was pretty well suited to this size in recent years. Compared to the iPhone, the fire does not generate so much heat.

    Kindle fire speed of application and reading a book is very fast and responsive. I have not tried the spreadsheet challenge spreadsheet or Word document in Open Office application app, but again I can think of many times (according to my rough estimate use) will do this type of stains on my Kindle fire: I like to keep my work separate from the game. Perhaps there will come a time when business applications are increasingly common with the fire, but that's another story.

    Back to price - $199 is an agreement for a unit with this many features. IPad2 Compare that to a price more than double the space of a few more inchs oof screen space.     I transferred the music for the Kindle fire and it works like a charm. I have not had enough time to immerse yourself in this new role and come to a playlist or a jukebox list, but the sound quality was good, not too loud or too soft.

Here are some potential negatives:

    I don't think I'm reading too much into the Kindle fire. Who knows, this idea may change, but I like the Kindle to read the eInk screen. I read a lot of time outdoors or in bright light, and based on my experience with the reading of an iPad is better than reading the full color eInk home.

    But my youngest son loves to color resolution liked to read books, lots of photos in the same (which is in elementary school). Therefore, to each his own. I have not bought the Kindle fire for reading, but rather to entertain.

    As already mentioned, the screen is smaller than an iPad. That does not bother me (see above), but may annoy some people, where size matters, or the "biggest" of this and that.

    I really wish we would have sent this with a micro-USB if I lost it exists in the package. Luckily I have a couple of them at home, so it was not too boring. I think that is the total cost of $199.

    There are many applications for the Kindle fire, because it uses the DROID platform, but Apple fans say that the chest and pound, "but we have more than one million applications," blah, blah, blah. I think you should look at the quality versus quantity of application, which is certainly a lot of junk on iPhone App Store (such as DROID store), but its basic functions of the applications you want / should be there.

    A total of $199, this is a great value to me and it's worth: Amazon has made ​​a direct hit home with this. If you do not fill up quickly, get one before they sell out before Christmas!
